NOT ON NATIVE LAND

Indigenous -Led
Civil & Human Rights Rally

A nationwide call is being issued to gather in
    Minneapolis, Minnesota
    Saturday, February 7, 2026 10 am - 12 pm
Whipple Detention Center at Fort Snelling
Indigenous leaders are calling relatives, community members, people of faith and allies to rally in peaceful witness as they serve a symbolic eviction notice, naming that detention and family separation are happening on stolen land and offer prayerful support to our welcomed guests to this land who have been detained.
What we are witnessing on this land has been experienced before. Different time — same story.

    WHY WE ARE GATHERING

Fort Snelling stands on stolen land where treaties were broken and never repaired. In 1862, this site became one of the largest prison camps for Indigenous people in U.S. history, where Dakota women, children, and elders were forcibly removed from their homes, separated from their families, and imprisoned before being exiled from their homeland. That history lives on this land.
Today, detention, family separation, and forced removal are happening here again including the detention of Native people in the shadow of that memory.
The Whipple Building, named for Bishop Henry Benjamin Whipple, who advocated for the rights and humane treatment of Native people, now stands as part of a system confining human beings on this same ground. We gather to bear witness, to stand with dignity, and to refuse the repetition of harm on this land.

    PEACEFUL INDIGENOUS-LED RALLY

This rally will be peaceful and guided by Indigenous leadership, with allies standing alongside in respect and shared responsibility. We are committed to:
    Nonviolence

We gather not to escalate but to stand with prayer, clarity, purpose, and witness.
